Planning Each Platform

Once you learn that every social media platform is different, you need to create a unique plan for each of them. It is good to know what each platform is intended for so you can create the best plan for each. Once you do that, the planning can begin!

Why You Should be Planning Content

When running a social media account for your business, planning is important. You don’t want to have to make content everyday. There will be certain days you know exactly what to post. Sometimes you will have company news, or a new employee. Those are great things to share! Other days, you might find it harder to come up with content. That is why it is important to plan.

Think of Who, Why, and What

When planning out content, you want to keep these three things in mind. Who are you trying to sell to? Why should they buy from you? What are you selling them? These may seem like very obvious answers, but they need to be clear to everyone, not just your company. You need to know your demographic, what sets you apart, and what message you want to send.

Plans can be Flexible

You want there to be thought behind each of your posts. Posting whatever is most relevant to your business in a given moment isn’t always a great way to go. You don’t want to post too much of the same content in a row. You should create a plan to be sure that you are showing different sides of your business each week. This plan should also be flexible so that customers don’t get bored. If you post content that looks exactly the same all the time, they are less likely to interact.

Quality over Quantity

Over sharing is never a good idea, especially when you are still building your audience. You want to post often enough so that you can grow your audience, but not so often that they feel overwhelmed. You also want to be sure that you are putting out quality content. It is better to post once a week, with a really well though out post that will catch a potential client’s eye than it is to post the recommended 3 times a week. You can always build up to posting more often, so focusing on the quality first is best.

Plans change as business grow!

Knowing these tips, and keeping in mind that you should adjust your plan as your grow can help your platforms grow. Tracking how different content is doing on each platform, and constantly working on your quality will show how much you care. It will also help keep your audience interested and growing.
